Ghost Story Writing Workshop Overview
Join us for a unique workshop focused on crafting spine-chilling ghost stories that evoke genuine fear and emotional responses. You'll learn to build tension and atmosphere, make your tales credible in a modern context, and develop compelling characters and backstories.
During the workshop, tea, coffee, and refreshments will be available. Participants will embark on a guided tour of the Mermaid Inn's secret passageways and cellar, which dates back to 1156, while hearing intriguing tales that inspire creativity. This historic inn is renowned as one of the most haunted in the UK and was featured on The Most Haunted TV series.
The main workshop runs from 1-6 PM, followed by an opportunity to stay for an evening ghost walk around Rye's spookiest locations. We’ll gather at 7:30 PM in the cozy, haunted Giant's Fireplace Room to share ghost stories by the fire.
The workshop is led by Sara Starbuck and Ted Gooda from GoodStar Literary Events. Sara brings 28 years of experience in UK trade publishing and is an accomplished author and freelance editor. Ted is an award-winning poet and playwright, known for ghostwriting bestselling memoirs, and serves as the Chair of West Sussex Writers.
